In “3m x 3m x 4m” the relation between the personal work space and my own body leads to an imaginary space, which offers the possibility to be recreated from the start. In order for the space to be reshaped, an associative practice was developed.
Part 2
Digital printing, wood, wax, dynamo
2015
Wooden panel, wooden frame, lens, polyurethane, video projection
The work is based on the differentiated and undifferentiated relation between the "Self" and
the "Other", as it was described by Jacques Lacan throughout the development of the "Mirror Stage" concept.
2016-2017
Video projection, wood, nails
The work refers to a quote and the actions of Jack D. Ripper, a fictional character in Stanley’s Kubrick movie: “Dr Strangelove”. While being paranoid he revealed that he was the one to order the nuclear attack to Russia. He claimed for the existence of a communist conspiracy planning to undermine our bodily fluids.
In this example the properties of language that mediate and make the command, build up the sapping accusation. A set of techniques and technologies come into motion to produce, render and reform the word-instructions into action-physical content realization. An immaterial like disembodied algorithmic information formulates into physical effect, affecting biological and non-biological entities.
In the presented video an image of a fluid is transformed into different moving images. A digital pattern transformation is visualized in the non-digital space and goes back again as a symbolic utterance. The non-linear series of fluid transformations result to a fire-kind object.
The fluid the main precious thing to protect according to D. Ripper, a cause of articulation, is transformed into a bomb.
2019
Video projection, paraffin, film print, cyanotype, glass tank
The Biobank example belongs to the class of institutions and may be used as a way to investigate and think upon the way such institutions deal and contribute to life itself. Through regulating and forming legal processes concerning ethical issues related to the ways personal information is being handled, to the ways samples are collected and stored, the biobank institutions exhibit their own belonging to the modern sense of “institution” dealing directly with life in the level of both materiality and immateriality.
The symbolic figure of the archaic Kouros statue is correlated with the general idea of the “body”, a thing which in this case is the image of a symbolic body, which has nothing inside anymore to make it functional and every organ-like sample/information is placed somewhere there-outside.
